Once again, trying to make my mark

Well, it has been over 2 years since my last post and a lot has changed. Through new jobs, new friends, and new sports teams I've gained a brand new perspective on life that means my observations will be... o so much more valuable!

Who am I kidding? I'm still the same old person, though hopefully a little bit more mature... something that's probably debatable.

Before I've posted just whatever I please... that will continue. But I'd also like to add a little bit clearer direction. So I've decided to list a few topics I plan to write about and why I write what I do.

  1. Oklahoma State - as many know, I've always been a die hard. I grew up on oSu, attending games since a child. Basketball was always my thing, but as I look back, probably mostly because they were better. These were the days of 4-7 football teams and 1995 Final Fours... Today the landscape is a lot different. Currently oSu is #2 and undefeated in football with the basketball team missed the NCAA tournament the last handful of years. Hopefully that changes this season! I'll most likely mainly focus on the basketball team, as I do have season tickets and the season is approaching.
  2. OKC Thunder - 2 years ago I was just a casual fan. Now it's completely different. Kevin Durant and the Thunder gang have swept me into intense fandom. I have partial season tickets(which combined with my oSu season tickets keeps me busy) and watch virtually every game. The playoffs last season had my stomach tossing and turning, similar to my childhood oSu experiences. With the lockout, some enthusiasm has been dampered... but I doubt it stays that way once we have basketball back.
  3. Politics - anyone who follows me on Facebook knows I have very strong opinions. What most don't know is the Facebook feed is a very filtered version of my political convictions. I will probably be less filtered here, as this form allows me to make more thoughtful observations. What many don't know, and something I've been very hesitant to state publicly, is I've had aspirations of running for political office. I've always wrestled with this idea, and it has been something I've had a very hard time jumping into. My career choice was a good one, something I don't want to leave behind... but there are so many ways you can jump into the political realm. This is something I continue to explore, but seems to have been pushed down the career path as I still think I have so much to learn. With the current political climate, it only makes me itch even more!
  4. My workouts - ok, this may seem like a joke, but this past year I've been on a kick. Next year I plan on running a marathon, doing Tough Mudder(10+ miles & 20+ obstacles), and dabbling in triathlons. Length and difficulty of triathlons depend on my swimming ability when I decide to test this out... I'm definitely not one to be like "O I just went to the gym" every time it occurs. But considering these are pretty significant events, I feel like journaling some of it along the way will keep me motivated and on track. On that note, I started Insanity a few days ago for the 2nd time... and while I've been working out almost daily for the past month, Insanity is making me feel old with all the pains popping up!

Over the next few days, I have a few posts planned. Past that point, no telling what this thing brings. I plan on posting once to twice a week... I'd love to share more politic views, ramble on about Oklahoma State sports and the Thunder. But most importantly I'd like to clear my head in a way... do something I can look back in a few years and see what made me tick during these times. Hopefully along the way, some of you will be entertained, educated, or emasculated(don't ask, just wanted 3 e's).

Throughout life's meandering, we gain a different perspective through our experiences... hopefully I can help you better understand my perspective. Toodaloo!
