McDonalds, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and a Pizza Hut

So, I was listening to my favorite morning show on WAY-FM. They had heard that if you leave a McDonald's burger on the shelf for months at a time, it would look exactly the same. No mold, it doesn't smell, blah, blah, blah. Well, being the person I am, I decided I wanted to do the experiment myself. Add to the fact that the Brant experiment is pretty lame b/c it is just a plain burger, and I felt a duty to get the proper data(even though I could probably look it up online).

I bought the burger on Saturday evening, so it is now the 3rd day. The burger doesn't smell at all. The cheese is understandably hard... the bread itself isn't completely hard yet, but it is getting there.

Here is the bag & burger:

Just b/c those are kind boring, I thought I would add some character to the pictures:

And here is where it will be stored:

Also, while thinking about this, it reminded me of a song we sung when growing. Sure enough, they had it on youtube... and this retention was quite funny.

Wish me luck for the foreseeable future!

Please update us all on your findings. I am quite intrigued. Once upon a time before refrigeration, people cured meats in salt and stored them for months. I've wondered before, if the salt content of fast food was sufficient to preserve cooked meat.
