I'm back, and wondering what the heck this country is doing!

Well, as most of you know, I went to Mexico last week. I used 5 days of vacation to go serve others... and it was the best decision I have made in a long time. I really wasn't sure about going, b/c only one friend was going(Jeff). I was blessed in so many ways on the trip. I really enjoyed the Mexican kids and they were really sweet. I didn't take pictures, b/c I don't have a camera case, so I'm not posting any. But, what I took most out of the trip to Mexico and going back home was that I have amazing friends. I was able to kinda renew some friendships from the past and it showed me that despite not talking to these people all the time, we all still really care for one another. That is what is amazing about the body of Christ. Also, I got to hang out with all the current high schoolers. Sure, I went to camp last summer, but I was really able to bond with them this time around and felt like they all really liked and respected me. That is an amazing feeling. I also realized how much I have grown and matured as a person in just a few short months in Wichita. It made me really miss back home, but it also gave me closure where I am really able to look forward to moving on in Wichita. While it was a pretty uneventful trip, it might be one of the biggest "turning points" or most important points in my life. God showed me that lots of people care for me, that I am constantly maturing, and that I really did make the right decision by moving to Wichita. What an amazing God.

Ok, well, here is the part where I complain about our countries politicians. First, today I became very appalled when I saw a few stats. The 2 presidential candidates don't even vote when they have the opportunity to in the Senate. McCain voted in less than 50% of the votes. Obama voted in only 55% of the votes. Sure Obama voted over 50% of the time, but I read somewhere (can't find the link right now) that Obama voted "Present" instead of for or against an issue more than any Senator. So not only did he not show up, but when he did, he refused to take a side.
Next, I saw this and I thought, are you kidding me??? He doesn't want to "politicize" the debate?? Isn't that the business he is in. It really sickens me. Americans what the details of your plan. Both of these candidates love talking about plans, but then put out ridiculous proposals that both know are just talk. Seriously Obama, do you really think this will work? How about you throw out a real energy plan?

The flip-flopping by both is getting to me. They were both against off shore drilling, now they are both for it(sorta). O, I also thought it is hilarious that Obama is trying to connect McCain to big oil.. but Obama voted for a 2005 energy bill that basically gave energy companies $2.8 billion, while McCain voted against it. McCain even called them irresponsible. The public interest group Public Citizen called it "The Best Energy Bill Corporations Could Buy”.

I thought this was HILARIOUS:

I have so much more, but I guess I am done, b/c I'm sure I already lost most of you. It is really sad that politics has come to this. Both candidates flip-flopping, both lying constantly about the other, and neither wanting to "politicize" the campaign.
