Today was a horrible day. It started at work. They were suppose to move me to my cubicle, but didn't. They ran out of time b/c they had so many new computers to set up. Not a really big deal, other than the fact that I was surfing the net all afternoon... completely bored. Then I go to the golf course, figure I will get 9 holes in. I played horrible. On top of it, I was going to call this girl I met on Sunday to see if she wanted to go to a movie. It wouldn't have been a "date" or resembled that in any way. I decided to wait to call until after I finished and could look up movies times. So, on my way home I stopped by Arby's for a change of pace from all the stuff I've cooked(which is code for heated in the microwave). While eating, I was reading a forum I frequent and a guy was talking about ways to help you stop smoking. One way mentioned was running, so I thought, "hey, I can go on a jog". Figured I would have to take a shower anyway b/c I had just golfed, so what is 10 to 15 minutes jogging? Really bad idea... I had just finished eating at 8:15 and I went out to jog at 8:45. I make it around the loop by my place(.8 miles)and barely made it, but I decide to go around again... for what reason I do not know. I think I was so tired it was like I was intoxicated... meaning my judgement was clouded. I go about half a mile and then I started feeling it. Next thing I know I am trying to puke, but nothing. I walk the rest of the way back and my stomach starts going crazy. This did not feel good at all. Eventually, my stomach rejected most of the food and instead of coming out of my mouth... well you get the picture.
Ok, now onto a better subject. I read this article by Glenn Beck, who has a show on CNN. Basically he made the comment that most of us aren't republicans or democrats, but are conservatives or liberals. Most will not put "our party" above our principles. He then laid out his core values, many of which are the same as mine, so I figured I would copy his list and make the parts I like mine.
In an older post of mine, I talked about earmarks. Well, I saw this article and this article and they really made me mad. The politicians still don't get it. The outcry against earmarks has grown and grown, yet not only do they refuse to get rid of their programs, they added even more in the 2009 spending bills. The leaders of the House/Senate are some of the biggest problems! Hillary has requested 2.3 BILLION in earmarks! Nacy Pelosi(who last year mandated that the proposer of the earmark has to be disclosed) has requested earmarks. It also really makes me mad when they defend it. You can't! If everyone got "their program" this government would be in even bigger trouble. The Republicans have declared a 1 year ban on earmarks for the party members, but STILL SOME PUT IN EARMARKS!!! Now that I have real job, I can spend my money the way I want it and I have decided I want to give to charities/cause I believe in. Past my tithe, I really think I want to find some agency that fights against these earmarks/corrupt government spending. If this doesn't get in control our country is in big trouble(o wait, we already are).
O, and in case you really care what interests me, hopefully you have noticed the "Kurtis' shared items" box on the left. The articles are articles I saw in my google reader and thought were interesting for some reason. Lots are random, others are actually issues I care about. PEACE.

- A conservative believes that our inalienable rights do not include housing, healthcare or Hummers.
- A conservative believes that our inalienable rights DO include the pursuit of happiness. That means it is guaranteed to no one.
- A conservative believes that those who pursue happiness and find it have a right to not be penalized for that success.
- A conservative believes that there are no protections against the hardship and heartache of failure. We believe that the right to fail is just as important as the chance to succeed and that those who do fail learn essential lessons that will help them the next time around.
- A conservative believes in personal responsibility and accepts the consequences for his or her words and actions.
- A conservative believes that real compassion can't be found in any government program.
- A conservative believes that each of us has a duty to take care of our neighbors. It was private individuals, companies and congregations that sent water, blankets and supplies to New Orleans far before the government ever set foot there.
- A conservative believes that family is the cornerstone of our society and that people have a right to manage their family any way they see fit, so long as it's not criminal. We are far more attuned to our family's needs than some faceless, soulless government program.
- A conservative believes that people have a right to worship the God of their understanding. We also believe that people do not have the right to jam their version of God (or no God) down anybody else's throat.
- A conservative believes that debt creates unhealthy relationships. Everyone, from the
government on down, should live within their means and strive for financial independence. - A conservative believes that a child's education is the responsibility of the parents, not the government.
- A conservative believes that every human being has a right to life, from conception to death.
- A conservative believes in the smallest government you can get without anarchy. We know our history: The larger a government gets, the harder it will fall.
