Amish Druggies ROCK... sorta

Tonight I watched "The Outsiders" on ABC. It was about Amish teens and the hard decision they have to make when they became "adults". See, in the Amish community, you can't become a member of the church until you become an adult. Before that, you are aloud to go out and become part of normal society. To me, that seems so against their culture I can't begin to understand it.

I saw Amish teens drinking, smoking, listening to music, and TEXTING while in the Amish community. Then, when they left the community to explore and go out on their own, what did I see? I saw them act like hicks, drink, smoke, party, and vandalize. One even went to jail for 30 days for going back home and lighting his uncle's carriage on fire. Then, I saw 2 of the 4 go back home after all that. It was really sad. They were so sheltered at home that when they got into the public, they went crazy and didn't know what to do. They were so overwhelmed they lost control, then eventually returned home. The rules are crazy, but what I understand even less than the rules is the parents of these teens just letting them go wild. It was very interesting. I think they are doing a series, so you all should watch it.

Different train of thought, but I'm pretty sure "Rush of Fools" is now my favorite Christian artist. They are amazing. I like every single song on their cd. I like too many of their songs, b/c every night a different one is my favorite. Here is the video for "Undo":
